Update to Members from Club Representative Jason Wyatt
Dear Members,
I write to provide you with an update on the progress of our Williamstown Swimming and Lifesaving Club redevelopment project.
First and foremost, I want to extend my gratitude to you for your support and active participation throughout this journey. Your input and feedback have been instrumental in shaping the direction of our redevelopment plans.
Following is a summary of the key updates since our last communication:
Survey Results: Our recent survey, aimed at understanding the priorities of our members regarding the redevelopment, yielded an impressive response with 454 respondents. The feedback has shed light on several critical priorities, notably emphasising the significance of preserving our Club Pool and the front lawn area.
Engagement with Stakeholders: We have been actively engaging with various stakeholders, including club members, state government representatives, architects, and the Hobsons Bay City Council (HBCC). Our recent meeting on 5 March 2024, with the HBCCl and the architects was productive, and we have outlined several actionable items to drive the project forward.
Next Steps: We have laid out a series of action items to be executed in the upcoming weeks. These include a continued focus on gathering member and community input and submitting a rebrief to the HBCC architects, outlining our revised requirements. Additionally, the HBCC has agreed to explore certain aspects of the project further, including the classification of the rear of the hall, conducting site soil testing, commissioning quantity survey reports for refurbishing our existing pool and building a new outdoor pool in the same location.
Member Input and Feedback: In line with our commitment to inclusivity, the club is inviting further input and feedback from all members. I encourage you to share your ideas, suggestions, and concerns by emailing them to me directly at membersrep@williamstownslsc.org.au. Your active participation during this phase is crucial in ensuring that our redevelopment plans align with the collective vision of our membership.
Upcoming Member Meeting: I am pleased to announce that we will be holding two additional member update and feedback meetings at the club on Thursday, March 14 at 6:00 pm and Again, yThursday, March 28th at 6:00 pm. our attendance and active participation at this session are highly encouraged, as your insights will be invaluable in shaping the future of our club.
Upcoming Council Meeting: The Hobsons Bay City Council has scheduled a meeting for the week commencing 25 March 2024, to further discuss the project. While this meeting may be conducted virtually due to council representatives being offsite, it presents an excellent opportunity for us to provide input and receive updates on the project's progress.
I will continue to keep you informed of further developments as we progress through this exciting phase of our redevelopment journey. Should you have any questions or concerns in the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly via the email address above..
Once again, I extend my gratitude for your continued support and commitment to the Williamstown Swimming and Lifesaving Club. Together, I am confident that we will achieve a successful and transformative redevelopment that will benefit our Club and community for generations to come.
