Key Aspects of the Concept Plans:

  • Pool Options: The concept firmly includes the pool within its scope. We are currently exploring two options—a brand new 25-meter pool or repairing the existing pool. Both options are being carefully considered to ensure the best long-term solution for our club.

  • Geothermal Heating: We are continuing to explore the viability of geothermal heating for the pool, which would allow for 24/7 heating and extend the usability of the facility throughout the year.

  • Expanded Club Area: The proposal includes an increase in the club's area that extends into the car park and the northern side of the club, providing more space for our activities and members.

  • Kiosk: The kiosk is proposed to remain as is, maintaining its current structure and operation.

  • Council-Owned Toilets: Any work on the council-owned toilets has been excluded from the project. This decision effectively secures the $3 million allocation from the council and unlocks approximately $1.5 million in additional funding for the redevelopment.

  • New Single-Storey Observation, Patrol, and First Aid Room: This new facility will be located at the eastern end of the pool, providing essential services and improving safety.

  • New Double-Storey Building: The old building currently housing the toilets and kitchen is planned to be removed. A new double-storey building will be added to the rear of the hall. The downstairs area will feature new toilets, change rooms, a kitchen, Membership Office, Services, IRB, and Patrol storage. The upstairs area will include a gym, secure office, training room with appropriate storage, and a social room that can host up to 80 people seated. An amazing balcony will wrap around the rear of the building, offering stunning views of the bay!

  • Hall Refurbishment: The existing hall will be refurbished and remain in place as part of the new design.

  • Front Lawn and Fence: The front lawn and front fence will remain in place for the continued use and enjoyment of our members.

  • McColl Building Replacement: The McColl Building will be replaced with a new structure that hosts indoor storage for surfboats and trailers, with capacity to support all surf sports teams and the Nipper programs.

  • New Wash Down Area: A new wash down area will be located at the rear of the building.

  • Core Life Saving Operations: In consultation with Life Saving Victoria, we are confident that all core lifesaving operational requirements have been effectively addressed in the brief, ensuring our primary functions are well-supported in the redevelopment.
